Bellies, Blankets Bulls And Bustles

Dang, that was good.

I ate my share of turkey, dressing, gravy, roast beef, horseradish sauce, dinner rolls, rice and ice tea. Then I ate someone elses share.

We (Me, Dad, Lynna, Nikki, BIL John and BIL Rick) had Thanksgiving lunch at Victoria's at the local Best Western. They opened up the banquet room and put on a really great spread.

I believe we all got full and accomplished it in good company. There is nothing better than getting together with family during the holidays for a good meal. Unless you can get together with family during the holidays for a good meal that someone else cooked, served, and then cleaned up afterward.

It was previously established that it is slightly cool in our house. If you promise not to tell Rick and Nikki I will let you in on the secret of how we stay warm. The secret is our patented Puppy Powered Personal Heating System. Seen to the right, Lynna has the system set on 4, but it can be dialed back to a lower setting if you get too warm and if one or more of the puppies agree to get out of the bed. We have experienced some issues with the system not turning down once you have set it to four. Or once you set it at a lower number it will suddenly increase with no input from the user.

If you have had a hankerin for some bull semen or just need some embryos implanted, there will be an auction at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Comanche County Fairgrounds in Lawton. Seriously, this is an auction to benefit 10-month-old Jhett McQueen Skaggs. Jhett is from Lexington and needs a new heart. There are many other traditional items up for auction as well.

"Items include artwork, guns, jewelry, hay, livestock supplies, livestock, skilled labor, stained glass, cattle trailers, sports memorabilia and hunting and fishing trips. Other traditional items as homemade cakes and pies are included. Some “nontraditional” items on the auction block include semen from choice Limousin bull stock as well as flushes and embryos transplanted at any Trans Ova Genetics site in Oklahoma, Missouri, Montana, Iowa, Texas or Ohio."

I can't think of a better cause and it looks like there will be some really great items. You can check out the auction items online at http://www.edjecast.com/ or to find out more about Jhett and his special needs visit http://www.jhettskaggsbenefit.com/ .

There are still a bunch of leftovers in most houses that need to be eaten and it is time to start planning for that Christmas get together with the family as well as ample time to buy me a present. But most of all please remember, in all the hustle and bustle of this holiday season don't forget to help out little Jhett. Attend the auction or go on line and bid that stuff up. Take home something for yourself or do your Christmas shopping for that special person in your life. Nothing says, "I was thinking of you.", quite like a vial of bull semen.

While I have your attention, I have a question.

What exactly do hustle and bustle have to do with the holiday season? I have heard that all my life and I can't for the life of me figure it out.....
