One Handshake Away From A Restraining Order
ChristiS from Blah Blah Blog has "tagged" me...
Post 7 weird or unknown things about yourself....
Ok, I don't know who you people have been talking to but I'm not nearly as weird as you seem to believe. I had to work really hard to come up with the seven things during the last tagging....
I'll play again but I'm changing it up, this time I'm going with the seven most famous or infamous people I have met. Which in turn will make the subject of your tagging the same.
Rules:
- Link to the person who tagged you.
- Leave a comment on their blog so that their readers can visit yours.
- Post the rules on your blog.
- Share the seven (7) most famous or infamous people you have met. Or go with the original 7 wierd things about yourself.
- Tag 7 random people at the end of your post.
- Include links to their blogs.
- Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
I feel the need to further explain the meaning of "you have met", because I know you people and hearings concerning restraining orders DO NOT count.
There are a couple of you that have met John Walsh early in the morning before you had a chance to brush your hair or teeth and you probably ought not go there in a blog on the Internet, that incident is something for you and your family to discuss at the next reunion....
They will be so proud...
"Met" indicates someone you have touched. Notice I didn't say you had to hug them or shake their hand. All you had to do is touch them. See, I'm making this easy.... plus if it required participation by the "famous", I might not be able to get two much less seven.
--------------------
EDIT
In response to Mickey's comment the definition of "Met" has been amended to the following:
"Met" shall be defined as EITHER touching or having a conversation with the "famous" individual. There is no requirement on the length or nature of the conversation. It could simply consist of "us" the un-famous saying, "Hey can I get your autograph?" and the "Famous" saying, "Not on your best day." Any two way conversation will do....
--------------------
The "famous" need not even be willing participants.
Also, no fair using the old "my, parent, sibling, or grandparent, is the most famous person I have ever met" ploy. Even though it may be true it still does not count. That would be way too easy.
It would be nice to also have a little explanation of the meeting, but only if your plea agreement allows for it....
The most famous or infamous people I have met.
Again in no particular order:

Dale Robertson - He had a farm around Oklahoma City someplace and most every year held a big watermelon feed. It was probably in connection with the election of some slimy politician. I got his autograph and he patted me on the top of the head. I was about four years old.
Miss America Jennifer Berry - I attended a luncheon and she was the guest speaker. She is from Tulsa Oklahoma. She was just all over me, I had to fight her off. No, not really, she is a very nice young lady, well spoken and knowledgeable. For some reason she looks kinds scared. It's that deer in the headlights look. I swear I didn't do anything to cause that look.

Foreman Scotty - I have mentioned Foreman Scotty before. If your not a child of the sixties and from Oklahoma you probably have never heard of Foreman Scotty. But if you are one of those children then chances are you have watched and or appeared on his show. A real example of Oklahoma at its best. He spent the better part of his adult life working with and for children. He taught honesty and fought for good over evil.
Derek Bell - I met Derek at the IMSA races in downtown San Antonio on more than one occasion. It is amazing that a guy that drives a car that fast and that close to the edge can be so calm. We had the opportunity to talk to him between practice runs and he was very open and accommodating. He is a really nice guy and a great driver.
General Tommy Franks - I met General Franks at a book signing and a speaking engagement. He is a true patriot. He is the type of individual we all should want leading our troops. He is a common man with uncommon courage, knowledge, understanding and he is a gentleman. He is truly one of the most down to earth individuals I have ever met.
Craig Morgan - I met Craig at an Independents Day ceremony one morning prior to a concert he participated in at the polo field at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He comes from a military background and understands what our troops are going through. He puts on a great show. If you get the chance you should attend a concert.
John Paul Jr. - I met John through my brother. Phillip and I enjoyed watching John race in San Antonio over the years and had the opportunity to have dinner with him after one of the races. He was an extraordinary IMSA driver and had solid finishes in Indy Cars. He is a very quiet but friendly individual. He didn't seem annoyed at all while we kept dragging racing stories out of him. I am always in awe of individuals that can drive cars at over 200mph with such ease.
Now... that's finally finished. I thought it would be easy, at least easier than finding seven more weird things about myself.
To begin with this post was difficult. I don't put the "famous" up on a pedestal. I treat everyone the same. Sometimes I am forced to ask Lynna the identity of somebody on TV or in the newspaper. I will even admit that while writing this post I had to ask her, "what's that singers name I met at Fort Sill?" It is not an affront to Mr. Morgan in any way. I think he is a great singer and enjoy his music. His name, his family, his past, present and future are his business and I don't want to know about it.... it doesn't matter to me. I care about his music and how it makes me feel when I here it on the radio.
And I guess that's the explanation. I enjoy and applaud what "famous" people produce or accomplish I just don't keep up with much about them individually, because in the great scheme of things it really doesn't matter to me who they are, only what they do. I don't want to know their kids birthdays and their favorite color. Just produce your product and I will pay for the opportunity to share in it.... and that is, after all, what it is all about.
It did get easier toward the end. I have now thought of many more that could make the list. In fact I think I may start a series of "famous" encounters which would be a little more in depth. There could even be a week long theme built around Star Trek.
My BIL Rick and Lynna are Star Trek fans. I am a fan also but to a lessor degree. We have attended conventions and have met William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, James Doohan, Rene Auberjonois, and John de Lancie.
There are more but I need to ask Lynna who they were.
