Connections, Zombies and Memes

They found me...

It is so safe when you are just lurking from high above the Internet simply watching what is going on around you. You step out of the dark one time and start joining groups and stuff and the next thing you know someone tags you for a meme consisting of seven facts about yourself. I was tagged by Kelly... sorry.... my bad.... Kerry at KerryNotKelly . Kerry didn't pick me because she was an avid reader of my adventures or because she wanted to read all the gory details of my misadventures. Noooooo ..... I was a victim of the sterile clinical decision making process known as the NaBloPoMo Randomizer.

This brings me to another discussion of my luck. I decided to start blogging and decided to try to blog every single day beginning November 12th and continuing until the end of time or at least until the United States has a black, female, atheist President from the Independent party.

Then I happened upon a blog that has this picture of a cat and the letters NaBloPoMo under it. At first I thought it was a logo of the first Spanish speaking member of the Crips gang.
"Yo... NaBlo whats up dog... errrr... ughhh.... cat... how's it rollin with yo bad PoMo self?"

Then I realized it was a group kinda like the Crips except they don't promote the sale of guns and drugs instead they promote the written word and encourage the reading of said word. Boy are they going to run into some opposition in the US or what..... there will be bubbas and gangsters hanging nooses on routers and dragging laptops behind 1979 Olds 98's sportin' 21 inch spinner wheels and pickups displaying Calvin pissing on everything except the Confederate flag, all across Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. After all this group is messin with their God given right to be ignorant underachievers.

NaBloPoMo is the acronym for National Blog Posting Month and it asks its members to post at least one post per day during the month of November every year. There are no restrictions on what you should post about. You could even post about the proper knot to use to "hook a computer draggin rope to yer trailer hitch". I would think that most of the members would prefer you post something with some socially redeeming value, in the absence of that try something that involves a trip to the ER or at the very least something that will make them laugh. I think I speak for the entire group when I say the less we hear about how hot you think your sister is the better.

BUT (and that is a big but) their promotion is focused on the month of November and I didn't get started blogging until the 12th so there was no way I could win any of the prizes much less the greatest prize of all time an original Sock Zombie. So I am totally bummed. Now it will be another ten and a half months before there are more prizes. Remember just like life NaBloPoMo is all about the prizes. I'm not bitter, I know it might sound that way but I'm really not... not much anyway.

Sorry.... back to Kerry. I went to her blog to see if there was anyway that we could interact, some common ground that we share as humans on this spinning orb. After all she outed me and is now demanding a meme as some type of ransom. So lets see.... she likes to listen to Modest Mouse, Head Automatica, The Shins, Dave, We Are Scientists, The Format not only have I not heard any songs by these groups, I have never even heard of these groups. I listen to Boston, Chicago, The Yard Birds, CCR, Santana, Rush, Garth Brooks, Chris Gaines, Big and Rich, a local group Blueprint and more recently The Clark Brothers and Six Wire.

Let me take just a minute and say that I believe The Clark Brothers and Six Wire are two of the most talented groups to get a shot in a very long time. They are both extremely tight as a group. They are both tremendous song writers and stylists. Both groups express the most heart felt emotion when they perform that is becomes an experience rather than a performance. And above all each member of each group is an accomplished musician which in this day and time is tough to find.

Sorry .... back to trying to find a common ground.

I looked at the books that Kerry had been reading. Again never heard of any of them... I read King, Ludlum and Clark. Movies.... Nope no matter what Kerry watches I haven't seen it. I don't go to the movies. DG is barred form most theaters. She can't put up with people talking during the movie and she lets them know it very overtly. Why do they toss out the people that are mad about people talking in the movies but not the Movie Talkers?

Then when I think there is no hope of ever connecting this 19 year old college student from Pittsburgh with Me.... an almost 50 year old bald guy with gray chin whiskers hawking auto parts in Lawton, OK, I see it... right there under interests. Photography. So I click on her photos at flicker and I can tell instantly that they are the end product of a process that started as an idea in the quiet place in her brain.

I prefer black and white photography but have a healthy appreciation of color works and her work that I have seen is very good. She has an excellent eye for the use of space and color.

So now that we have a connection I feel like I can properly answer the demands of her meme.

Seven things most people don't know about me. (this is hard because that is what I use this blog for.... to try to expose and explain all those things.....)
I'm going to play one time and one time only. Unless someone asks a really great question.
Here we go in no particular order.....

  1. I am a cancer survivor.
  2. I love Kraft Mayonnaise on saltine crackers.
  3. Until about 1993 I was terrified to speak in public.
  4. I am terrified to this day of clowns.
  5. I have a tattoo.
  6. I think I have undiagnosed Attention Deficit Disorder. (It would explain a bunch.)
  7. I wish that I had continued to pursue my original plan to be a Law Enforcement Officer.

Now the questions are:

  • Who gets tagged by me?
  • How do I decide who to tag?

The following bloggers are asked to post the seven things that most people don't know about them. And continue the meme by tagging seven more people. Easy....

Sunday Night Of A School Week

oopsie

Pris Place

Nanothoughts

Rantings Of A Space Cadet

A Whole Lotta Nothing

Just Add Water

I'm not telling how I picked.
